MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Junior guard Terrice Robinson led the Morehead State women’s basketball team with 15 points and four rebounds in a 64-61 exhibition loss to Kentucky State on Saturday at Johnson Arena.
The Eagles were held to 35 percent (12-of-63) from the field for the game, while the Thorobreds shot 40 percent (23-of-57). KSU also pulled down 50 rebounds to MSU’s 31.
Freshman forward Kailee Howe chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds, while sophomore forward Whitney Kyle added eight points in just 16 minutes.
Morehead State led by six at the 13:47 mark of the first half, but Kentucky State put together a 24-8 run over the next 11 minutes to grab its biggest advantage of the night at 31-21.
The Eagles battled back in the second half, tying the affair at 43 with 10:17 to play. The teams went back and forth down the stretch, but KSU finished on a 6-3 spurt to close out the contest.
MSU begins regular season action on Friday when it travels to the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill., to face Illinois State in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. Tip-off is slated for 8:05 p.m. ET.
