CFPA NATIONAL PERFORMER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The preseason recognition continues to pour in for the Morehead State football program. Senior quarterback
Austin Gahafer has been tabbed to the College Football Performance Awards FCS National Performer of the Year Watch List.
The list includes the 40 projected top players in the Football Championship Subdivision as determined by the staff of the CFPA.
The Louisville, Ky., native is coming off a prolific 2015 season when he was named Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Year. Gahafer needs only 1,738 passing yards to set the Morehead State career record and just 2,717 yards to break the PFL career mark. Last season he threw for 3,244 yards and 24 touchdowns, scored three more times on the ground, and caught two touchdown passes from receiver
Jake Raymond.
Gahafer opens the 2016 campaign with the most career passing yards (8,514) among all active quarterbacks in the FCS. Gahafer ranked in the top five in the nation in passing yards and completions per game (26.4) last year.
