Junior middle blocker Laura McDermott has been named this week’s Female Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week.

She was also named OVC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts.

McDermott led the team in kills and blocks last week. She finished with 36 kills and hit .359 in the three matches. In the OVC opener at Belmont Friday, McDermott recorded 13 kills and hit .435 while also adding a pair of blocks.

She had 12 kills and just two errors for a .345 attack percentage in a 3-0 win at Tennessee State Saturday.

The Westfield Center, Ohio, native opened the week with a team-best 11 kills and a .308 hitting percentage to go along with five blocks at No. 18 Kentucky Monday.
