Junior outfielder Brandon Rawe of the baseball team has been named this week’s Male Pepsi Student-Athlete of the Week.

Rawe was a big reason that MSU won four of its five games last week week. His solo home run in Wednesday’s win over Mississippi Valley State broke up a 2-2 tie and was the deciding run in the contest. The Matthews, N.C., native drove in runs to re-take the lead for the Eagles on three separate occasions in Saturday’s win over Grambling, including a two-out, two-RBI single in the top of the ninth with the Eagles trailing by one.

He finished 7-for-12 with seven RBI, two doubles and a HR in his final two games of the week. Rawe's two home runs this week were equal to half of his total output in 2013.

It is his first honor of the season.
