Bob McCann was a three-year starter for the Eagle basketball team from 1984-87 after transferring from Upsala College. McCann was an Honorable Mention All-American in 1987 and was the 1986-87 OVC Player of the Year.
A two-time First-Team All-OVC honoree and native of Morristown, N.J., McCann averaged 17.5 points and 10.5 rebounds for MSU. He left MSU as the 12th leading scorer all-time (14th currently) and ranked 8th on the MSU all-time rebounding list when he finished. He scored 1,445 career points and also ranks second in career blocked shots in program history with 224.
McCann was drafted in the second round of the 1987 NBA draft (32nd overall) by the Milwaukee Bucks. While playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) he averaged 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds for five different NBA teams. He also played for a number of teams overseas.
McCann sadly passed away on June 7, 2011 due to heart failure.
