Dan Gooch played football for Morehead State from 1979-82. He lettered all four years and later spent two years as an assistant coach for his alma mater. Gooch is considered one of the finest linebackers to ever wear the Eagle uniform.
Gooch was an All-Ohio Valley Conference First-Team selection in 1982 and All-OVC Second-Team selection in 1980. A native of Hawesville, Ky., Gooch comes from a line of good football players. His father Wallace played professional football for Baltimore, and his brother played defensive tackle at the University of Kentucky.
At the time of his induction, Gooch held MSU records for most defensive plays in a game and in a season and for most individual tackles in a game and in a season.
