Don Russell played football for Morehead State from 1973-74. He transferred to MSU from Louisville and was the Eagles’ placekicker for two seasons.
Russell established eight Morehead State kicking records and was named All-Ohio Valley Conference and Universal Sports Magazine All-American in 1973. He was also the first MSU student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American in 1974.
After his playing career for MSU, Russell became the radio voice of Eagle athletics and was the University’s first athletic development officer.
