Guy Penny coached the Morehead State football team from 1959 to 1967. His nine-year record was 39-39-2.
In 1966, Penny coached the Eagles to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship and in 1962 he led them to a share of the OVC title, which was the first one in the history of Morehead State football program. Both of those seasons he was selected as the OVC Coach of the Year. He was also named Kodak District 4 Coach of the Year in 1966.
A native of Alabama, Penny graduated from Ole Miss where he played football for them for three seasons. He coached high school football in Alabama and then went on to be an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee-Martin before coming to MSU.
After his successful coaching stint with the Eagle football program he went on to be a professor of health, physical education, and recreation at Middle Tennessee State.
