Herbie Stamper played basketball for Morehead State from 1975-79. He lettered all four years at MSU. He is a member of the elite 2,000 point club.

A native of Brinkley, Ky., Stamper was MSU’s all-time leading scorer at the time of his induction with 2,072 points. He earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors on three occasions for the Eagles. He led the Eagles in scoring for three consecutive seasons. He amassed 450 points as a freshman, 547 as a sophomore, 565 as a junior, and 510 as a senior. He led the OVC in scoring twice and in free throw percentage on three occasions.

In addition to being a prolific scorer for the Eagles, Stamper led the Eagles in assists as a junior and a senior. He posted 45 and 78 assists, respectively.  At the time of his induction he held the career record for most field goals attempted with 1,544 and most field goals made with 776.

Stamper returned to his high school and has been a successful girls basketball coach for Knott County Central High School in Hindman, Ky.
