Homer Cablish, a three-year letter winner from 1971-74, played for baseball coach and fellow Hall of Fame member John “Sonny” Allen. He was a two-time all-Ohio Valley Conference selection during his time as an Eagle.
Cablish is regarded as one of the best defensive first basemen in league history. He held the MSU record for most RBI in a game with eight for more than 20 years before it was broken.
A native of Maysville, Ky., Cablish was a major part of the Eagles’ OVC title run in 1973. After his playing days for the Eagles, he moved to Florida where he works with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is also a successful accountant.
