Jim Day played basketball for Morehead State from 1967-71. He was a two-time All-Ohio Valley First-Team selection. He was selected in the National Basketball Association draft in 1971 by the Portland Trailblazers in the 6th round.

Day lettered all four years in basketball for MSU. He joined the Eagles’ squad from Ashland’s Fairview High School (Ky.). At the time of his induction he ranked 17th on MSU’s all-time scoring list with 1,158 points. He also ranked 14th on MSU’s all-time rebounding list with 616.

Day became the seventh player to ever record more than 600 points in a season, doing so his senior season with 609. He led MSU in both scoring and rebounding from 1969 to 1971.
