Marian Hammonds played football for Morehead State from 1936-38. Hammons was a standout defensive end for the Eagle football teams of the late 1930’s. Those teams, under the direction of Ellis Johnson combined for a record of 16-3-3. Among their highlight wins were victories over Eastern Kentucky (twice), Louisville and Cincinnati.
Hammonds was named All-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as a senior. The 1939 edition of MSU’s Raconteur called him, “One of those rare, good little men heard of so often and seldom seen.”
