Mike Brown played multiple positions on the Eagle football team from 1959-62.
Brown,a Second-Team All-OVC selection as a senior, he earned the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Back and MSU’s Most Valuable Player honor in 1962 while helping the Eagles to a share of their first OVC championship.
Brown started at quarterback and defensive back as a junior and started every game at defensive back as a sophomore. He led the conference in punting as a sophomore and senior. Brown returned to his alma mater and served as an assistant coach from 1966-68, helping guide MSU to its second league title in 1966.
He served 15 years as the faculty representative for athletics, a critical position which works to ensure student-athlete eligibility and serves as the department’s liaison to the academic programs at the institution. Brown also chaired the MSU athletic committee for 10 years.
