Mike Gottfried played football for Morehead State from 1962-65. He is best known now for being one of the top television football analysts, serving in the capacity for ESPN.

A native of Crestline, Ohio, Gottfried spent four seasons as the starting quarterback for the Eagles. In his career he passed for 3,553 yards, including 1,585 yards in 1965. When Gottfried graduated Morehead State he was the career leader in pretty much every passing category.

Gottfried went on to be a very successful head football coach. He was the head coach for Murray State, University of Cincinnati, University of Kansas, and University of Pittsburg. In his 12 years of collegiate coaching he managed an impressive record of 76-55-4.
