One of the most accomplished track runners in Morehead State history, Oscar Jones came to campus in 1973 from Charleston, W. Va.
He lettered in track and field from 1973-77 and still holds the Morehead State record in the 55-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and 120-yard hurdles.
Jones was the 1977 OVC outdoor champion in the 220-yard dash and the 1977 OVC indoor champion in the 55-meter hurdles. Jones served as the team captain on the 1977 OVC indoor championship team.
He qualified for three NCAA track championship appearances. Following his career, he coached the MSU women's track team in 1977-78 and the men's track program in 1978-79.
Jones earned his bachelor's degree from MSU in physical education. He retired from BASF Chemical Company in 2016 and currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife Bonnie.
