Paul Adams was a center on the Morehead State football team from 1937-40. He was named to the Little All-America team following his senior season.
Adams played professionally for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1947-49. He returned to Morehead to serve as an assistant football coach in 1950 and MSU’s head coach from 1956-58.
A native of Coal Grove, Ohio, Adams also competed for the basketball, baseball and swim teams at MSU. His college work was interrupted by a four-year service in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was wounded twice in the war and received two Purple Hearts.
Adams earned a bachelor’s degree in education and history. He had a long career in education, retiring as the federal grant coordinator and assistant to the superintendent of Boyd County (Ky.) schools.
Adams passed away on Sept. 24, 1995.
