Val Falcone played baseball for Morehead from 1968-71. He was a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference First-Team selection (1970-71).
Falcone was a major part of the 1969 Eagle baseball team that finished 22-6 and won the OVC East Division title and the overall OVC Championship. As a junior in 1970, he batted .375 helping MSU finished 18-9 on the season. He hit .359 his senior year to help guide Coach “Sonny” Allen and the Eagles to a 22-9 mark. In the four years that Falcone was an Eagle his teams won a total of 74 games and two OVC East Division titles.
Falcone went on to have a short career in professional baseball. He started in 1971 with the pennant-winning Oneonta Yankees of the New York-Penn League. He also went on to become a nationally-ranked racquetball player.
A native of Bethesda, Md., Falcone now resides in Orlando, Fla. He is currently the Executive Sales Manager for Swingtime Golf USA.
