Wayne Martin was Morehead State’s ninth head men’s basketball coach. He led the Eagles for nine seasons from 1978 to 1987.
Martin posted a record of 130-120 and he coached both the 1983 and 1984 squads to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship. Those teams went on to play in the NCAA tournament.
Martin was named OVC Coach of the Year in 1982. He coached three NBA draft picks while at Morehead State, including fellow Hall of Fame member Bob McCann. He was inducted into the OVC Hall of Fame in 2004.
Martin is currently the President and General Manager of WKYT-TV (Lexington, Ky.). He has been serving in that capacity since 1989.
