Jason Neal Promoted on Baseball Coaching Staff

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Jason Neal, who recently completed his third season with the Morehead State baseball coaching staff, has been promoted to full-time Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Head coach Jay Sorg is excited about Neal's expertise and experience.

"Coach Neal has been a key figure in the building process of our program over the last two years.  He has a great baseball mind and feel for the game.   A program is only as strong as it's ability to recruit. Jason is an accurate evaluator and strong communicator," said Sorg. "I am excited about the talent coming into our baseball club with Coach Neal as the recruiting coordinator."

Neal began with the Eagle coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2007 under former head coach John Jarnagin. He expanded his role in 2008 when Sorg took over the program and increased his role again in 2009, serving as third base coach and assisting with recruiting. In his new role, he will coordinate all of the Eagles' recruiting efforts and continue to serve as third base coach. He will also work most closely with the MSU outfielders and assist with hitters as well.

Neal came to MSU in 2007 after three seasons as the bullpen catcher for the Cincinnati Reds' AAA affiliate Louisville Bats. Sorg was on the coaching staff with the Bats' when Neal was there.

He played collegiate baseball at Oakland City University and graduated in 2003.
