CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Morehead State men's and women's track teams kicked off the 2009 campaign Saturday at the Early Bird Relays at the University of Cincinnati. The men's team finished in a tie for fifth place and the women's team finished ninth. Host school Cincinnati placed first in men's competition with Indiana finishing second. In women's competition the Bearcats took the top spot with Dayton finishing second.
In the men's 400 meter MSU sophomore Morgan Sloas placed fourth with a time of 50 seconds. In the 3,000 meter steeplechase junior Ron Duncan finished fourth in 9 minutes 27 seconds.
Senior Ryan Hudson's time of 4 minutes 6.42 seconds was good enough for fifth place in the 1,500 meter. Jon Brown's 20 foot 11.25 inch long jump was good enough for fith and Tim Settles finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 1.78 meters.
In women's action Alexis King set a person best time of 4 minutes and 47.65 seconds in the 1,500 meter where she finished fifth.
Both teams will be back in action April 4 at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational
