TERRE HAUTE, In. -- As we quickly approach the middle of October, and the fall season clearly in sight, the MSU Men's Cross Country squad has a bit more on their minds. This weekend's Pre-Nationals meet, hosted by Indiana State university, will be their last review session before the season's final exam, the OVC Championships.
Coming off of their outstanding showing at one of the toughest, and most highly touted, races in the country, the Greater Louisville Classic, the Eagles are hoping to peak at the right time, and continue to build on the momentum gained.
The Eagles are set to run in the Men's 8K White Race, which will begin promptly at 12:50 p.m. The group includes the likes of local foes Eastern Kentucky University, Western Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati.
Also grouped with the Eagles are thirteen teams ranked in the top 35 in this week's National USTFCCCA poll, including Colorado (4th) and Portland (8th).
Though it will be a tough task, a strong group such as this could prove to be very beneficial for the men, as they make final tune-ups before their most important meet of the year, the OVC Championships.
The Eagles starting lineup for this weekend includes Josh Wakeman, Ron Duncan, James Bowens, Alexx Bernard, Michael Settles, Matt Dotson, and Andy Bailey.
Final results will be posted at completion of the race.
