MOREHEAD, Ky.--All eyes have been on Saturday’s tilt since the schedule-makers finished their work last summer. Morehead State hosts Murray State in a rematch of the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference championship game.
The game will be carried live on Wazoo Sports and ESPN 3/ESPN Full Court and is slated to tip at 8:07 p.m. It will also be Black Out night at Johnson Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear black and pack Johnson Arena as the Eagles make a play for a 2-0 start in OVC play for the second time under coach Donnie Tyndall. Morehead State opened league play with a dominating win over UT Martin to improve to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in OVC play.
Standing in the way will be what Tyndall calls one of the best defenses in college basketball. Like their MSU brethren, Murray State is also 4-3 overall and 1-0 in league play. The Racers have had a tough early schedule, but managed to emerge with wins over ETSU and Stanford. Murray opened its OVC slate with a win at Eastern Kentucky.
Isaiah Canaan and B.J. Jenkins each average just over 10 points a game to lead the Racers. Ivan Aska is their best rebounder and Jenkins and Isacc Miles lead the team with 21 assists apiece.
On the flip side, Morehead State’s Kenneth Faried has back-to-back 20-rebound games and continues to lead the league and Morehead State in scoring with 18.0 points per game. Joining him on the offensive side is Demonte Harper’s 13.9 points and 3.9 assists per game.
The Eagles play one more home game during this three-game stretch. Morehead State will host St. Catharine at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
