LEXINGTON, Va. – The Morehead State rifle team, eager to return back to action this spring, started off hot against a formidable opponent in the Virginia Military Institute Saturday. The Eagles used a mixed squad to shoot an aggregate score of 4495 which bested the Keydets' best score of 4332. MSU now improves to 4-5 on the season.
Shawn Holley led the way in the smallbore, shooting a match best 568. Elizabeth Lyon and
Mary Saenger also had great performances, finishing in second and third place respectively.
Holley continued his hot shooting in the air rifle, firing a match best 571. Lyon and Saenger also finished in second and third once again, shooting 566 and 564. Morehead State dominated the air rifle as Katie Bush and Hannah Wager also finished in the top six. In all, MSU finished with eight of the top 10 shooters in the air rifle.
The rifle team will be back on the range Feb. 5-6 at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Jacksonville, Ala.
