MSU Track and Field Finds Success Once Again

DANVILLE, Ky – The Morehead State Track and Field team was once again successful this weekend at the Centre College Invitational, scoring several more personal bests.

"We carried the momentum from Cincinnati into this week," said MSU track and field head coach Tommy Barksdale. "I hope we can continue our upswing for the rest of the season."

Among the many personal bests was freshman #Miranda Nelson# in hammer throw. Nelson broke the MSU school record two weeks ago and continues to impress with another record-setting performance.

Sophomore #Liz Braunwart# won the women's 10,000 meters while freshman #Shelby Brickey# brought home another victory for the Eagles in women's high jump.

The men had exceptional showings as well, notching two 1-2 finishes in the steeplechase and hammer. Junior JT Stone scored the honor of overall top male by accumulating the most points in the tournament (30 total). Stone won the shot put, discus and hammer competitions.

Among other notables were freshman #Jake Elliott#, finishing second behind Stone in hammer. Juniors #James Bowens# and #Michael Settles# finished first and second, respectively, in the 3k steeplechase.

Track and field will travel to Ohio next week, April 8-9 for the Miami Invitational at Miami OH University. Check back for more results.
