MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State track and field competed well this weekend in Bloomington, Ind. for the Polytan Inviational and Columbus, Ohio for the Jesse Ownes Classic, posting personal bests in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase, men's and women's 5000 meter run, men's 800 meter run and men's shot put.
Settles set his record of 9:44 in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Ratliff set a 16:00 personal record in the 5000 meter run. Mandzak and Covington set personal bests with Mandzak's mark of 19:11 in the 5000 meter run and Covington's 1:59 time in the 800 meter run.
On the throwing side, Elliott rounded out a string of personal bests with a distance of 44'6" (13.56 meters) in the shot put.

Andy Bailey# clocked a season best of 1:56 in the 800 meter run. #
James Bowens# continued his hot streak with a 14:50 time in the 5000 meter run, his second best time for the season.
"Despite the weather, overall it was a successful weekend," said coach Tommy Barksdale. "We will head to Miami this weekend, using it as an opportunity to tune up for the OVC Championships."
The Eagles will be at Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ohio this weekend, April 29-30. This will be the Eagles second trip to Oxford and their last tournament before the conference championships May 6-7, hosted in Murray, Ky.
