MSU Track & Field Compete Well in Louisville, Ending Season on High Note

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Morehead State track and field performed well Saturday in the Cardinal Twilight meet held at Louisville's Cardinal Park and Soccer Stadium with a victory in the women's 800 meter run and personal best in the shot put competition.

Sophomore Natalie Norman stood out in the women's 800 meter with a season best 2:16.42 time and a first place finish. Holly Mandzak chalked up a seventh place finish in the women's 5,000 meter run with her time of 19:22.24.

The shot put competition bred another personal best with Alyssa Arnold throwing a distance of 12.50 meters. Arnold bested her 12.21 meter distance thrown earlier in the season and marked the season's second longest distance behind Miranda Nelson's 13.67 meter mark thrown in April.

On the men's side, senior Josh Wakeman and junior Michael Settles ran 21st and 23rd respectively in the men's 5,000 meter run. Settles ran his best time of the season in the event with a time of 15:49.17.

The Eagles ended a great season on a high note in Louisville and are looking forward to next season.

“Natalie did a great job, winning her heat in an exciting race and Alyssa Arnold had a big breakthrough in the shot put,” said MSU coach Tommy Barksdale. “It's an exciting time to be here at Morehead State and we are only looking to improve on our success.”
