MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State rifle will be taking on Jacksonville State Saturday at the Button Rifle range beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Jacksonville State, currently ranked sixth nationally, finished second in the OVC tournament last season after winning the air rifle portion.
“We know that JSU is a top-ranked team, but I think we are prepared to hold our own against them,” Morehead State rifle coach
Walt Rybka stated. “Consistency and keeping everyone healthy are the big issues we are focusing on right now.”
After starting the season strong, sophomore
Mary Saenger, junior
Rob Gagliani and freshman
Ethan Cole will be looking to lead the Eagles to another victory this weekend. Saenger had a team-best aggregate score of 1144 score two weeks ago against Columbus State.
Eagle rifle made some additions to the team over the offseason with the signing of four freshmen. The additions seem to be leading them in the right direction according to Rybka.
“Our freshmen are starting to make some good progress,” he said. “Ryan [Mueller] and Demi [Jacques] are coming along and we changed Jumell’s [Wilson] gun earlier in the week to help him.”
