RESULTS AT UT-MARTIN | RESULTS AT MURRAY STATE
MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State rifle team dropped a pair of competitions last weekend, coming up short at UT Martin, before splitting a tri-match at Murray State to finish the weekend.
UT Martin used a smallbore score of 2,321 to help defeat the Eagles by just a 38-point margin (4592-4554).
The Eagles were victorious over Columbus State 4572-4553, but Murray State took the competition with an aggregate score of 4634.
In the setback at UT Martin, the duo of junior Ethan Cole and senior Mary Saenger led the Eagles. Saenger finished with a 580 in smallbore and 577 in air rifle, while Cole finished just behind with a 571 in smallbore and fashioned a 582 in air rifle.
Morehead State finished with an air rifle score 2293, which was the lowest at the tri-match, but bounced back with a 2279 in small bore, which was just 12 points behind the 2291 of Murray State.
At Murray State, Cole (579 smallbore and 578 air rifle) and Saenger (585 air rifle and 578 smallbore) led the Eagles on both guns. The smallbore scores of Cole and Saenger were first and second best in the competition, while Saenger's air rifle mark was third highest.
The Eagles return to action on Nov. 16 for a competition with Columbus State at home at Button Range.
