Rifle Splits Weekend Contests


RESULTS VS. CSU | RESULTS VS. AKRON

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State rifle team split a pair of home contests last weekend, defeating Columbus State before falling to Akron.

MSU defeated CSU 4,558-4,486 on Saturday, before falling 4,586-4,552 to Akron Sunday.

MSU had identical 2,261 marks in smallbore in each competition and finished with a 2,297 in air rifle in the victory over CSU and a 2,291 in the setback versus Akron.

Junior Ethan Cole led MSU in both guns versus Columbus State by posting scores of 584 in smallbore and 582 in air rifle. Cole also led the Eagles in smallbore in the Akron competition with a 574, besting senior teammate Mary Saenger by one point.

Saenger led MSU with a 580 in air rifle versus Akron. The duo of Saenger/Cole has led MSU in both guns all six competitions this year. Freshman
Abby Morrison finished with a career best 572 versus Akron.

The Eagles return to action on Sunday at the Buckeye Open, which is hosted by Ohio State. Nearly 80 collegiate, junior and open shooters are expected to compete.
