Men's Basketball Wraps Up Regular Season at TTU

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Morehead State men's basketball team closes out its 2012-13 regular-season schedule on Saturday at Tennessee Tech.  Tip-off from the Eblen Center is set for approximately 8:30 p.m. ET.

The Eagles, who have secured the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament's No. 5 seed, are 14-16 overall, 8-7 in conference action and 4-11 on the road.  The Golden Eagles are 11-17 overall, 4-11 in league play and 8-5 at home.

Morehead State owns a 76-62 advantage in the all-time series against Tennessee Tech.  The Eagles notched a 65-63 victory over the Golden Eagles on Feb. 16 at Johnson Arena.  MSU has won 11 of the last 12 contests vs. TTU.

The match-up will follow an MSU vs. TTU women's game at 6:30 p.m.  It will be the season finale for the Eagle women.

THE LAST TIME OUT
Morehead State posted season highs for field-goal shooting and three-point accuracy in a thrilling 101-100 victory over Tennessee State on Thursday at the Gentry Center.

HITTING THE CENTURY MARK
Thursday’s victory over Tennessee State marked Morehead State’s fourth 100-point effort of the campaign.  It was MSU’s first triple-figure effort against a Division I foe in regulation time since a 104-76 win over UT Martin on Feb. 20, 2003.

BLOWING UP THE SCOREBOARD
Thursday’s affair at the Gentry Center was the first time in over 10 years that Morehead State and its opponent both reached the century mark.  The Eagles posted a 101-100 overtime victory over Marshall at Johnson Arena on Dec. 17, 2002.

THE BIG FIRST HALF HELPED
Morehead State exploded for 51 points in the first half on Thursday at Tennessee State.  It was MSU’s best first-half total in 28 games vs. Division I opponents this year.

TALK ABOUT HOT SHOOTING
Morehead State drilled 62 percent (37-of-60) from the floor and 60 percent (15-of-25) from beyond the arc before a national-television audience at Tennessee State.

I LOVE PLAYING THE TIGERS
Sophomore Angelo Warner owns two 20-point efforts this season, both against Tennessee State.  He tallied 23 points on 5-of-6 from three-point range on Thursday after registering a career-high 24 points on 16-of-18 from the foul line on Jan. 26.

UNSTOPPABLE FROM DISTANCE
Senior Devon Atkinson canned a career-best four three-pointers on Thursday.  He had not connected on more than two trifectas in his first 54 games at Morehead State.

SEE YOU IN NASHVILLE
Morehead State is the No. 5 seed for next week’s Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.  The Eagles will open against the No. 8 seed (still TBD) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.  MSU advanced to the semifinals last year as the event’s No. 3 seed.

GOING TO THE GLASS
Morehead State is +149 total rebounds and +103 in offensive boards over the past 17 tilts.  The Eagles, who average an Ohio Valley Conference-best 36.0 rebounds in league play, have outrebounded 15 opponents during the stretch.

WEARING DOWN OPPONENTS
Morehead State has registered an 863 (28.8) to 458 (15.3) advantage in bench points this season.  The Eagle reserves have outscored their foes in 26 of 30 contests to date.
