The UT Martin volleyball team hit .343 in the opening set and limited itself to just three service errors for the match en route to a 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 win over Morehead State on Friday night at Wetherby Gym.

The Skyhawks improve to 9-10 overall, 2-3 in Ohio Valley Conference action and 3-3 on the road.  The Eagles fall to 0-18 overall, 0-5 in league play and 0-8 at home.  It was just UTM's 10th victory over MSU in 51 all-time meetings.

Sophomore outside hitter Madison Wessling paced the Skyhawks with a team-high 13 kills, while junior libero Chelsea Bowles collected a match-high 11 digs and freshman setter Madison Bergren handed out a match-best 32 assists.

UT Martin cooled down to attack percentages of .150 in the second set and .194 in the third stanza, but still finished the evening with a .226 clip.  Sophomore middle blocker Julia Devinney led the Skyhawks with a match-high six blocks.

Morehead State junior middle blocker Hannah Sigala notched 14 kills and just four errors on her way to a .417 hitting percentage, while senior middle blocker Laura McDermott smacked 12 winners and had just one miscue en route to a .550 clip.

Senior setter Colbey Cameron posted 14 assists and 10 digs for the Eagles.  Sigala managed a team-best four blocks, while McDermott contributed three.

The match featured 21 ties and nine lead changes.  UT Martin finished the first set on a 6-2 run after things were even at 19.  The Skyhawks also manufactured a 6-2 surge in the second period after MSU led by one.  The last stanza was nip-and-tuck throughout.

Morehead State returns to action on Saturday when it hosts conference foe Southeast Missouri at 5 p.m. ET.  The match will follow an MSU home football game against Jacksonville at 1.  Individuals with football tickets will be admitted to volleyball free of charge.

The contest is part of a weekend-long promotion called "Morehead For a Cure."  Pink "MSU Cares" t-shirts will be available for $10 apiece, with all money being donated to the American Cancer Society.
