Dayton Rolls Past Volleyball in Three Sets

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Dayton volleyball team posted advantages of 41-33 in digs and 6-2 in aces on its way to a 25-20, 25-13, 28-26 victory over Morehead State on Tuesday night at the Frericks Center.

The Atlantic 10 Conference Flyers improve to 17-5 on the season, while the Ohio Valley Conference Eagles slip to 0-20.  UD also moves to 12-11 in the series versus MSU.  The teams had not met since 1997.

Senior middle blocker Isolde Hannan and junior outside hitter Alaina Turner led Dayton with nine kills apiece.  Hannan also recorded a .615 attack percentage, with just one error in 13 total attempts.

The Flyers hit .172 for the match, including a sizzling .423 clip in the second set.  The Eagles were limited to .076.

UD freshman setter Jane Emmenecker handed out a match-best 31 assists, while junior libero Janna Krafka notched a match-high 10 digs.  Turner also contributed three aces and nine digs.

Sophomore middle blocker Sydney Schuler led Morehead State with nine smackdowns, while junior middle blocker Hannah Sigala added a team-high five blocks and eight successful attacks.

Dayton posted an 11-9 advantage in team blocks, with Hannan collecting five and Turner snagging four.

MSU let the first set slip away after leading 15-12.  UD jumped out to a 12-2 advantage in the second stanza and never looked back.  The final frame featured 15 ties and seven lead changes.

The Eagles return to Wetherby Gym and Ohio Valley Conference action this weekend.  MSU hosts Tennessee Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. ET and Jacksonville State on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Fans at Friday's match will receive free mini corndogs.
