TENNESSEE RELAYS RESULTS | UC INVITATIONAL RESULTS
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Junior
Gary Monroe and sophomore
Jesse Moreno set school track records at the Tennessee Relays Powered by Sea Ray. Several other Eagle runners established personal bests at Tennessee and at the University of Cumberlands Invitational this weekend.
Moreno broke Tony Teats' 10,000-meter school mark on Thursday night in Knoxville, setting his third school record this season. Moreno finished second in the event with a time of 30:29.59. He has already shattered the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter school record earlier this year.
Monroe broke his own school record in the 1,500-meter run, clocking the track in 3:49.67. His previous mark was 3:50.68 in 2012. He then finished second in the 800-meter run at the UC Invite Saturday with a time of 1:54.46.
Junior
Desmond Bell turned in a season-best performance in the 800-meter run at Tennessee at 1:52.83, winning his heat. Bell finished second in the 400-meter dash at UC with a personal-record time of 48.85.
Senior
Chase Ratliff also established a 10,000-meter personal record at Tennessee with a time of 30:34.04. If not for Moreno's mark, that would have broken the school record as well.
For the MSU women, freshman Jasmyn Andrews claimed a victory in the 800-meter run at UC. She beat 39 other competitors with a time of 2:23.22.
Freshman Karina Manz laid claim to another win as she beat out 10 others for a victory in the 10,000-meter run at Tennessee. Her time was 36:23.26. Fellow freshman Alyssa Shifflett set a personal record in the 5,000-meter run at UC with a time of 19:28.53.
Both teams will be back in action Friday and Saturday at the Kentucky Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington.
