FINAL RESULTS
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Morehead State track and field teams continued to establish personal records and tally wins as they completed action this weekend at the Bellarmine Invitational.
Despite windy conditions on Friday night, juniors
Gary Monroe and
Desmond Bell collected first-place showings in the 1,500-meter invitational run and 800-meter invitational run, respectively. Monroe clocked a 3:56.18 in his event, while Bell won an 800-meter race for the second straight week, turning in a 1:55.28 mark.
Sophomore
Clay Dixon grabbed a win too. He won his heat of the 800-meter run at 1:56.
Senior
Chase Ratliff finished a narrow second in the 5,000-meter run, recording a personal-best time of 14:46.38. He was less than four seconds behind teammate
Jesse Moreno's school record which was established last weekend. Moreno ran the 1,500-meter run this week, finishing in 4:00.71.
Freshman Skyler Green clocked a personal-best 18:18 in the 5K. Junior Krystal Williams tallied a personal-best in the 5K as well at 18:26.40. That was 10 seconds better than her previous personal standard.
Sophomore Erica Parks notched a personal record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:33.05. Freshman Hannah Bailey came in right behind her at 11:34.14.
On the men's side, freshman Landon Meserve ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the first time and turned in a time of 10:32.
The Eagle women also got personal bests from freshman Taylor Montgomery and Alyssa Shifflett in the 1,500-meter event.
Both teams will be back in action next weekend at the Sea Ray Relays at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
