LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Led by a 19th-place individual finish by junior Jesse Moreno, the Morehead State Men's cross country team finished eighth at the Bluegrass Invitational Saturday. The Eagle women also competed, with junior Alex Morris leading the way with a sub 19-minute time.
Moreno finished the 8K course at Masterson Station Park in 24:50:31.
Senior Gary Monroe crossed the finish line in 26th place at 25:03:20. Junior Evan Childers came in third on the team with a time of 25:39:56. Junior Jorge Gil-Juarez covered the course in 25:48:00.
Senior Desmond Bell (26:07:23), freshman Mason Blevins (26:21:58), freshman Hunter Trenary (26:27:57), freshman Iszack Whitsell (26:36:16), sophomore Jeremy Ruppert (26:54:75), freshman Josh Riley (26:57:07), sophomore Landon Meserve (27:15:38), freshman Anthony Ortega (28:57:18), sophomore Clay Dixon (29:05:48), and freshman Orlando Frazier (29:51:97) also competed for MSU.
In the women's race, Morris (18:20:00) finished 40th out of 96 runners. Sophomore Haley Mullins was next on the squad, covering the trail in 18:29:90.
Sophomore Mackenzie Butler was third on the team, tallying a time of 18:36:90. Sophomore Hannah Mullins was close behind at 18:39:70, while junior Jasmyn Andrews ran the course in 19:03:40. Sophomore Alyssa Shifflett was next at 19:25:30.
Sophomore Hannah Bailey (19:28:80), freshman Abby Soltisz (19:30:60), sophomore Taylor Montgomery (19:47:90), and senior Lindsay Marcum (19:52.80) also represented Morehead State.
Both teams will compete next on Oct. 4 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
