MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Senior
Jorge Gil-Juarez finished in the top 30 among more than 200 runners to lead the Morehead State cross country teams at the NCAA Pre-Nationals races Saturday at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville.
Gil-Juarez's time of 24:44.3 clocked as the fourth-best 8K time in program history. He finished 28th in the men's unseeded race, which featured 207 competitors. For the women, junior
Mackenzie Butler's turned in the fifth best 6K time in program history, running the course in 22:30.5, while freshman
Kansas Greenwell's time of 22:38.6 registered as the sixth best time on the school-record list. In addition, junior
Hannah Bailey's time of 22:52.7 was good for seventh on the all-time 6KÂ list.
The men's squad also featured freshmen
Justin Moakler (25:36.3) and
Shane Rigsby (25:49.2), along with sophomore
Hunter Trenary (25:51.2), finishing in the team's top four.
Senior
Krystal Williams (23;16.1) and freshman
Gloria Corona-Luna (23:17.4) rounded out the top six for the women.
Both teams will now train for the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in two weeks (Sat., Oct. 31). The OVC races will be held at the Miller Memorial Golf Course at Murray State.
