TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Freshman
Farah Abdulkarim led the men's squad, while freshman Caitlin Cunningham paced the women's team as the Morehead State cross country teams competed at the ISU Pre-National Invitational Saturday.
Abdulkarim crossed the finish line in 14th place at 25:15.5 among the 133-runner field in the men's 8K race. Sophomore
Justin Moakler finished in the top 25 at 25:27.1. The men's team finished 10th in the 20-team field.
Cunningham covered the 6K course in 23:16.2. Senior Erica Parks (23:23.1) and senior Hannah Bailey (23:24.7) finished neck-and-neck. The women placed 24th.
The men's race also featured Eagle sophomore
Corey Tooke (25:43.8), senior
Jesse Moreno (26:17.0), and junior
Dylan Rich (27:01.0). Sophomore
Jordan Carrington completed the men's open-race 8K in 27:15.5.
Also in the Eagle lineup for the women were sophomore Kansas Greenwell (23:30.9), senior Mackenzie Butler (23:32.5), senior Alex Morris (23:47.8), and freshman Abbie Dorn (24:59.7).
Both teams are back in action Oct. 29 in Nashville, Tenn., for the Ohio Valley Conference championship.Â
