MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State women's basketball made its 2016-17 debut with a 93-32 exhibition win over Transylvania (Ky.) on Thursday night at Johnson Arena.
"I thought we played very hard defensively," said head coach
Greg Todd. "We really dictated tempo well."
The Eagles forced 36 turnovers from the Pioneers, scoring 43 points in the process. Morehead State finished with 23 steals and six blocks, holding Transylvania to just 23 percent shooting.
Sophomore guard
Miranda Crockett led the way for the Eagles, filling out the box score with 26 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and five steals. Senior
Aaliyah Wells shared the scoring load with 22, complemented by seven steals and six rebounds.
"(Miranda) has got an incredible motor," Todd said. ""Aaliyah had an outstanding game. Those were two good all-around performances."

Eriel McKee rounded out the double-digit scoring on the Morehead State roster. The Eagles shot 6-for-13 (.462) as a team from three-point range.
Morehead State will tip off regular season action on Friday, Nov. 11 when Georgia State visits Johnson Arena at 5:30 p.m. ET. The Eagles defeated the Panthers 99-90 in Atlanta last season.
