MOREHEAD, Ky. - After falling in overtime to Eastern Washington on Tuesday night, Morehead State men's basketball returns home after playing six of its last seven games on the road to face East Tennessee State (8-2) on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
The Eagles (2-7) are looking to end a seven-game losing streak, their longest since losing nine straight during the 2006-07 season.
Despite the tough overtime defeat at Eastern Washington, there were a lot of positives for the Eagles.
Sophomore forward
Lamontray Harris scored a career-high 22 points and mounted a 10-0 run of his own to draw Morehead State within one point after being 11 points down. Overall, he went on a 12-1 run and his jumper tied the game at 75-75 with just over two minutes to go.
He shot 9-of-15 from the floor and 2-of-3 from three-point range, while pulling down four rebounds.
Including Harris' 22 points, the Eagles had six players score in double figures on Tuesday night and senior forward
DeJuan Marrero (10 points, 10 rebounds)Â and junior guard
Miguel Dicent (11 points, 13 assists)Â each finished with double-doubles.
Dicent's 13 assists marked a career-high and were just three shy of the school record of 16, set by Jeff Fultz (1983-84) and Kareem Storey (2013-14).
As a team, the Eagles finished with 20 assists, the second most on the year. The Eagles are averaging 17.3 assists per game, which leads the OVC.
Senior forward
Ronnye Beamon made his first start of the year, and after sitting the majority of the first half with two fouls, helped limit Eastern Washington to 0-of-12 shooting from three-point range in the second half. He finished with five points and a career-high eight rebounds.
Morehead State out-rebounded Eastern Washington, 45-36, and its 18 offensive boards marked the second most of the season.
Tickets are available for Saturday afternoon's matchup against East Tennessee State, and it will air live on the OVC Digital Network.
