MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State women's basketball earned its fifth straight win by way of a 77-68 victory over Canisius on Monday evening at Johnson Arena.
"Tonight wasn't an easy one, but I didn't feel like it would be," said head coach
Greg Todd. "Give Canisius credit."
The Eagles connected on a season-high 10 three-point field goals, led by senior guard
KayK Tate. The 5-foot-8 reserve scored a team-high 17 points on 4-for-5 (.800) shooting from downtown.
"KayK works very hard," Todd said. "Tonight, she let the game come to her."
Redshirt-sophomore
Darianne Seward recorded seven points and 13 assists over a team-high 37 minutes as a starter. Senior
Brianna McQueen logged 14 points and six rebounds after missing the last three contests due to injury, while fellow senior
Aaliyah Wells dropped 11 points on 3-for-4 (.750) shooting from three-point range. Junior
Eriel McKee tallied 11 points and four steals.
"We had some folks step up," said Todd. "It was a good team win for us."
After four games in nine days, Morehead State will take a brief hiatus until the Ohio Valley Conference portion of the Eagles' schedule tips off next week. MSU enters conference play with a 10-3 record, good for first place in the OVC. The Eagles will battle Austin Peay on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 8 p.m. ET in Clarksville, Tenn.
