MOREHEAD, Ky. – Coming off its second road loss to a nationally ranked opponent this season, Morehead State bounced back with a 73-53 win over Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Arena.
The Eagles were led by senior forward
Shay Steele, who recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and two steals in a 22-minute starting effort. After connecting on her final field goal with 7:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, Steele became the 23rd player in Morehead State history to surpass 1,000 career points.
"I'm very pleased for Shay," said head coach
Greg Todd. "We really wanted her to reach 1,000 points at home. Anytime you can get a win and get a player in the record books, it's a positive thing."
The Eagles held Lipscomb to under 30 percent shooting from the field, including 8-of-32 (.250) attempts inside the arc. Morehead State forced 25 turnovers from the Lady Bisons, while committing only 15.
Four Morehead State players scored in double-figures.
Eriel McKee logged 13 points and nine rebounds, while
Miranda Crockett tallied 11 points and five boards.
Brianna McQueen recorded 10 points and four assists. Each double-digit scorer made at least two steals, along with junior reserve
Brooke Todd, who had four blocks and two steals.
