Moakler, Best turn in top efforts at Bellarmine Invitational

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State freshmen track and field athletes Justin Moakler and Lauren Best led their respective teams and turned in top-three efforts this weekend as the teams participated in the Bellarmine Invitational.

Moakler finished second in the 800-meter run Friday, crossing the line in 1:54.80. Best clocked the third fastest time among the 29 runners in the 1,500-meter event Saturday. Her time was 4:55.61.

For the women, senior Jasmyn Andrews took part in the "fast" section of the 1,500-meter race, turning in a time of 4:49.67. Junior Hannah Bailey was sixth in the 1,500-meter race Saturday at 5:08.40.

On the men's side, junior Dylan Rich registered the fourth best time in the 800-meter run on Friday, at 1:55.46. Freshman Shane Rigsby was seventh in the 1,500-meter event at 4:07.51.

A select few MSU athletes will be back in action next weekend in California at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Beach Invitational. A majority of the team will head back to Louisville on April 23 for the Bellarmine Classic.
