CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –
Morehead State women's golf used a season-low round 306 to finish fifth at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate. The top-five finishes mark the third consecutive top-five finish for the Eagles, marking the first time they've accomplished the feat since opening the 2015-16 campaign with three top-five finishes.

The Eagles entered Tuesday's final round seventh, but used the lowest round of the day to finish fifth. Morehead State's final round 306 tied for the second-lowest round of the two-day event, bested only by host Austin Peay's 302 in the opening round.

"We are proud to end the tournament on a high note today by shooting the low round of the day and moving up to fifth," said head coach Stephanie Barker. "For the most part, as a team, we were in great position both of our last two rounds to score quite solid."

After a rough first day, that saw scores in the 80's, the Eagles bounced back on the event's final day.

"I'm proud of everyone for hanging in there and fighting hard," added Barker.

Sophomore Gypsie Hutchinson (82-79-75-236) paced the Eagles, finishing tied for 19th. Freshman Barbara Roether (85-78-74-237) wasn't far behind, finishing 22nd. Junior Ana Dieguez (81-81-79-241) finished tied for 27th, while seniors Sarah Debnekoff (84-77-85-246) and Ebba Gustafsson (85-84-78-247) finished 33rd and tied for 34th, respectively.

The Eagles return to action at the WCU Bill Berg Invitational on Monday, Oct. 16. The two-day event will be held at The Ridges Golf Club in Hayesville, N.C.
