Angelo Warner Signs to Continue Pro Basketball Career in Mozambique
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Former Morehead State men's basketball combo-guard Angelo Warner will be taking another step in his professional career, signing to play for the Ferroviario Beira basketball club in Mozambique.

Mozambique is an African country in the southeast part of the continent, separated by approximately 286 miles of ocean from Madagascar. The population is estimated at roughly 29 million people, the official language is Portuguese, and the nation boasts one of the world's highest gross domestic products at an estimated $37.3 billion in 2017.

Ferroviario Beira fields its competition in the highest division in all of the nation. By adding Warner, the hoops club will be looking to build off last season's success, finishing with the second-best record in the league at 10-5.

A native of Orlando, Fla., Warner is heading to Africa after some successful professional ventures after graduating from MSU. His most recent expedition took him to the country of Cyprus, an island nation south of Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea. It was there that the Sunshine State product helped lead the Mapfree Life hoops club to a league championship. Warner was voted to the postseason Cypriot North League All-Imports Team, an accolade that bestows top honors to players signed to the league from outside of the Mediterranean.

He has also seen stints in the ABA (American Basketball Association), spending time with the Jacksonville Giants and the Daytona Beach Sharks.

Warner graduated from Morehead State University in May 2015. As a senior at MSU, Warner not only eclipsed the 1,000-point mark, but finished the 2014-15 campaign with the tenth-most points in program history, tallying 1,592 points. Warner holds other top-10 career honors in program history, ranking ninth in assists (299), seventh in free throws made (412), third in steals (207), and sixth in 3-point field goals made (164). Warner finished his Eagle career with 84 double-figure performances in 130 games, 17 of which saw him chip in 20 points or more.

Warner's career high came in his last win in an Eagles uniform, when Morehead State faced UT-Martin in the second round of the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. On March 5th, 2015, he poured in 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting, to go along with eight rebounds, one shy of his career high (nine rebounds at Louisiana Tech and at Tennessee State).

Warner is one of 18 former Eagles' men's basketball players to have played professionally since 2011: himself, Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets), Demonte Harper (Russia), Brent Arrington (NBA G-League's Greensboro Swarm), Anthony Elechi (Japan), Xavier Moon (France), Lyonell Gaines (Peru), Corban Collins (Germany), Dejuan Marrero (Switzerland), Miguel Dicent (Dominican Republic), Karam Mashour (Israel), Chad Posthumus (Japan), Devon Atkinson (Australia), Kareem Storey (Slovakia), Billy Reader (England), Luka Pajkovic (Romania), Milton Chavis (Luxembourg), and Sam Goodman (ABA's Atlanta Aliens).
