Women's basketball glides to 76-52 win at Canisius behind balanced scoring attack

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Led by a balanced scoring attack from a sextet of upperclassmen, Morehead State women's basketball (8-3) cruised to a 76-52 win at Canisius (2-7) on Saturday in snowy Upstate New York.

The red-hot Eagles extend their winning streak to six games over the past three weeks.

Morehead State outshone its opponent in almost every facet of the contest, fueled by 31 turnovers by the Golden Griffins. The Eagles capitalized with 36 points as a result, relinquishing only nine points off turnovers to Canisius. Morehead State made its living below the basket, controlling the paint by a count of 46-26.

The Eagles were led by a breakout performance from senior forward Erin Blaine, who logged 16 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Junior guard Miranda Crockett followed closely behind, notching 14 points and four steals in a game-high 34 minutes.

Reigning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week Darianne Seward chipped in 11 points, five rebounds, and seven assists, while four-time OVC Newcomer of the Week Tierra McGowan recorded 10 points, six boards, and a block.

Fourth-year seniors Eriel McKee and Brooke Todd added nine points apiece, filling out the box score in the process. McKee tallied five rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and two blocks, as Todd finished with seven boards, two blocks, and a one steal.

Morehead State is set to continue its road trip through the Empire State, traveling to Brooklyn for a matchup with St. Francis (4-6) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
