MOREHEAD, Ky. - Sophomore guard Miranda Crockett led the way with 18 points, as Morehead State women's basketball downed Murray State 73-59 at Johnson Arena on Wednesday night.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 17-6 overall and 7-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while the Racers fall to 12-10, 4-5 OVC.

"Tonight was an all-around good showing," said head coach Greg Todd. "We're happy to bounce back after a tough loss and close out a solid victory."

Morehead State built a 19-point lead at the half, and led by as many as 28 points late in the third quarter. The Eagles shot 27-for-59 (.458) from the field, while holding the Racers to a 20-of-68 (.294) performance.

Forwards Shay Steele and Brooke Todd anchored the defensive front for the Eagles, combining for 10 blocks on the evening. Steele finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and six blocks, while Todd swatted four shots in 20 minutes off the bench. With 70 blocks through 23 games, Todd moves to No. 4 on the school's all-time single-season blocks list.

"Shay did a really good job for us on the defensive end," said Todd. "She's really come on for us and blocked a lot of shots lately. Brooke has really been playing well on defense all season."

Redshirt-senior Brianna McQueen followed Crockett's game-high 18 points with 15 of her own, thanks in part to 7-of-7 shooting from the free throw line. Redshirt-sophomore Darianne Seward tallied eight assists and six boards in 22 starting minutes.

"We did a good job finding our shot tonight," Todd said. "Miranda had a particularly strong evening, while (McQueen) continued to make the right decision with the basketball in her hands."

With the win, Morehead State heads into a two-week stretch without another home game. In the meantime, the Eagles travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo. for a matchup with Southeast Missouri (10-13, 5-6 OVC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
