MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Three more school records fell by the waysde for the Morehead State rifle team in its match at Jacksonville State Saturday. The Eagles ultimately fell by a slim 4,653-4,629 margin to the Gamecocks.
MSU shattered the school smallbore record, shooting a 2,307 to eclipse the old mark of 2,795. In addition, two individual records were established. Junior Seth "Cream of Wheat" Baker nabbed the program's smallbore kneeling record with a 198, while junior
Joe Fischer now owns the program record for smallbore prone at 200 - Â with 18 center shots.
Baker, along with sophomore
Brandon Bryer, topped the Eagles in smallbore both with 579 totals. Freshman
Alexa Potts notched a 575, and Fischer settled in with a 574.
In air rifle, freshman
Jesse Moyer paced the effort with a 583, while freshman
Karly Potts was right behind at 582. Fellow freshman
Sarah Fink, while not on the official counter squad, fired a 580.
The Eagles conclude the 2017 portion of the schedule next Saturday at the NCAA qualifier match at Kentucky.
