RICHMOND, Ky. -- Senior
Blake Cartwright led five Morehead State golfers with a fourth place finish at the Eastern Kentucky Raising Cane's Intercollegiate this weekend, held at the University Club at Arlington.
The Eagles finished in sixth place, carding a team total of 17-over-par at 282-285-290--857.
Cartwright was consistent all weekend on the par-70, 6,623-yard course. He fired a 68-72-68--208 to finish two-under-par as he moved up eight spots to tie for fourth in the final round Sunday for his second top-10 finish in as many events this season.
Sophomore
Cooper Collins also produced his second top-10 effort, fashioning a 71-70-68--209 to jump up 10 spots and finish in a tie for seventh.
"Blake and Cooper both played well the entire event," said head coach
Matthew Martin. "They absolutely carried us in the final round. Our team score was inflated by a few loose shots here and there."
Freshmen
Zac Viminitz,
Cameron Dawson and
Joe Muschong also played for Morehead State. Viminitz concluded in 43rd place with a 72-70-76--218. Dawson and Muschong were both 70th with Dawson's final tally at 73-73-78--224 and Muschong at 71-75-78--224.
MSU is idle now until next Sunday and Monday when it takes part in the NKU Fall Classic in Batavia, Ohio.Â
"While we did not finish where we wanted to, there is some positive momentum to build on going forward," Martin said.
