MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Looking to build on the momentum gained from their highest national ranking in program history prior to Christmas, the Morehead State rifle team returns from break to host Akron on Saturday.
The Eagles, who rose to as high as No. 12 in the nation, open the spring portion of the schedule ranked 17th. The Akron Zips are 13th in the CRCA poll.
Morehead State has won four consecutive matches. Junior
Brandon Bryer tops the Eagles in aggregate average at 1155.8, followed closely by freshman marksman
Ryan Hinson at 1154.5.
In air rifle, Hinson leads the pack right now with a 583.7 average, but sophomore
Alexa Potts is right behind at 583.6. As a unit, the Eagles sport a 4619.5 air rifle average, including a school-record 4645 total the last time out when they knocked off Jacksonville State.
In smallbore, Bryer has been the top shooter so far with a 576.5 average. The Eagles fashion a 2291 average on the smallbore range.
Results will be available on MSUEagles.com following all action. MSU will have one more tune-up opportunity (Jan. 28 vs. Murray State in Lexington) before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Murray on Feb. 3-4.
