GAME NOTES
THE SERIES WITH LIPSCOMB
Morehead State and Lipscomb have only met three times on the hardwood. Lipscomb owns a 2-1 cushion, thanks to a 77-70 win in Nashville last season. The teams played a home-and-home series in 2016-17 with the Eagles winning the matchup in Morehead.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Senior forward
Lamontray Harris enters the game with back-to-back double-doubles and now 11 for his career. He ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference with 11.2 rebounds per game and averages 12.2 points to rank second on the team.
MARCH TOWARD 1,000
Lamontray Harris has a legitimate chance to reach 1,000 career points if he can keep up his average this season. He has piled up 751 career points in 95 career games.Â
STILL NAILING THREE-POINTERS
Morehead State has hit at least one three-pointer in 377 consecutive games, dating back to 2007 when the Eagles were held without a made one from beyond the arc against Jacksonville State.
WALK THIS WAY
In the last three contests, junior guard
Jordan Walker has averaged 24.0 points per game, scoring a season-high 25 against Green Bay on the strength of hitting all 12 of his free throws. In that span he is 12-of-23 (.521) shooting from three-point range.
PASS IT ON
Senior guard
A.J. Hicks ranks second in the OVC with 6.6 assists per game. Hicks has at least five assists in all five games this season and has 18 career games with five or more assists. To put it in perspective, Hicks' assists have been responsible for 32 percent of Morehead State's points in 2018-19.
HE'LL HIT 'EM
Jordan Walker leads the OVC in free throw percentage, hitting 24 of his 25 free tosses. In his three-year career, Walker has drilled 78 percent (145-of-184) of his charity stripe opportunities.
ACCURACY FROM LONG RANGE TOO
Not only is
Jordan Walker accurate from the free throw line, he's the Eagles' best three-point shooter too. In his career, Walker has drilled 40 percent (95-of-238). That includes leading the entire OVC as a freshman in 2016-17, hitting 49 percent (38-of-77).
HE'S NOT A FREAK, HE'S MALEK
Sophomore forward
Malek Green has started his second collegiate campaign off strong, registering double figures in points four times. He scored a career-best 18 in the season opener against Kentucky Christian and is shooting 53 percent (28-of-53) from the field.
80 IS THE KEY
Since 2015-16, when the Eagles hit the 80-point plateau, the program is 22-4.
HOLDING THAT LEAD
In the last two seasons now, Morehead State is 9-2 when holding a lead with five minutes remaining. That includes both wins this season.
FROM RUSSIA TO THE BLUEGRASS
Freshman forward
Sasha Sukhanov is believed to be the first Russian-born player to ever suit up for the Eagles. He came to Morehead State by way of Teays Valley Christian School in West Virginia.
THE NEWEST EAGLES
Morehead State signed three players in the early signing period. The newest Eagles set to join in 2019-20 are forward Julius Dixon (Fayetteville, Tenn.), guard Ta'lon Cooper (Spartanburg, S.C.) and power forward Tyzhaun Claude (Goldsboro, N.C.).
